The aims of our Careers Programme is provide all students with the opportunity to explore a wide range of career pathways through meaningful contact with employees and employers, visits to different work environments, impartial careers advice via one to one interviews and access to a selection of specific recognised websites.
Students will have the opportunity to engage in activities at Post 16 providers and in events designed specifically to challenge stereotypes. Through these opportunities and the sharing of information about the local labour markets, our aim is to ensure students can achieve their aspirations by making informed choices when choosing their options and transitioning out of the School.
The programme addresses all 8 of the Gatsby benchmarks and recognises the importance of providing accurate information and resources for parents and carers to ensure they are able to support their young person along their learning and career journey. Feedback from a range of stakeholders informs the programme.
Mrs J McMaster
Good career guidance is critical if young people are to raise their aspirations and capitalise on the opportunities available to them. In 2013 Sir John Holman was commisioned to research what pragmatic actions could improve career guidance in England and subsequently he developed the Good Career Guidance Benchmarks.
