Join us for our open evening on Thursday 5th October.
We are very proud of our purpose built setting with its own gardens. We provide a fun, caring environment for your child to grow.
Open 51 weeks of the year, Monday to Friday 7.30am — 6pm.
To help your child feel less apprehensive about being left we arrange a settling in period with you. The experience prepares you for the first occasion you leave your child with us. All children have a designated key worker who is responsible for your child’s development records, planning and keeping parents informed of their child’s progress and well-being.
Our onsite cook Sandra prepares freshly cooked meals for all children that attend the nursery. She works with parents to ensure all needs are catered for, including allergies and special diets. Healthy drinks and snacks are provided throughout the day.
We are pleased to confirm that we were judged as 'GOOD' with an area of 'Outstanding' for personal development, behaviour and wellbeing.
"The managers, and many of the staff, are very experienced practitioners who work as a highly effective team. Over the years, they have constantly evaluated and improved the combined settings to raise the standards of care and learning for children in the community". Ofsted May 2018
THE BABY UNIT
3 months to 24 months. A home from home, providing care from our committed staff who offer a secure, safe and fun environment to ensure your baby is given the best foundations.
DAY NURSERY
24 months to 5 years. To help your child achieve confidence and independence through a variety of independent led play. We work with parents and carers to work towards achieving a child’s goals such as toilet training.
All children within our setting follow the Early Years Foundation Stage Curriculum. This is continued all the way to the end of Reception Year at school. Our friendly staff are committed to providing the best care to help your child prepare for school and make the transition process an easy one.
FUNDING
All children receiving the Early Years curriculum are entitled to funding from the Early Years education grant. This entitles each child to 15 free flexible hours per week, term time or over 52 weeks. We accept 2 year old funding and 30 hours funding. For more information visit the government website www.gov.uk
SNOW DAYS/EXTREME WEATHER
Please check the website in the event of extreme weather to see if we are able to open.
Snow days will still be charged at the normal rate. This is due to our running costs and overheads still having to be paid. However, where possible during the period of the time that your child is at our setting we will always try to offer additional sessions to compensate for the missed sessions. These sessions will be given when available. Please refer to the payment policy for more information.
PARENT/GRANDPARENT VOLUNTEERS
We are always in need of an extra pair of hands! If you or you know of someone that is willing to give up a few hours a week, then we'd love to hear from you. Some of the activities we need help with are:
Gardening
DIY and decorating
Looking after on site animals
Having fun with the children!
For more information please speak to a member of staff. Please note all volunteers will be subject to employment checks and DBS.
‘Assessment is precise and accurate for all areas of children's learning and development. Staff use their in-depth knowledge of each child to plan interesting learning opportunities that help children to achieve the next steps in their development.’
Ofsted May 2018.
PARENTS/CARERS - Please be aware of our payment policy that all parents/carers must adhere to when attending one of our childcare settings.

"Generations" is the first intergenerational setting in the area where the Pre-School and older adults connect to make great friendships, share experiences, and have fun along the way! In September 2020, Little Stars Pre-School moved from its original setting at Portchester Community School to a brand new environment at Castle Street Day Centre to become Generations Pre-School.
Generations follow the Early Years Foundation Stage Curriculum. This is continued all the way to the end of Reception Year at school. Our friendly staff are committed to providing the best care to help your child prepare for school and make the transition process an easy one.
Our Pre-School team ensure our learners have the best start with key workers who are able to cater to each child's individual needs making sure they are ready for transition.
